Are both of these trucks equipped (or unequipped) with SAI?

When I did this with an 04 donor into an 03 truck (both 4.6 w/SAI) I didn't know about the IDM sync. I must've had the ignition on for ~20m because there were no issues. I swapped ECU, BCU, TCU, SLABS, trans/transfer case, cluster, ignition and driver's door (because the 03 had no fob) and so far it's been 17k trouble-free miles. The only hiccup was one year I forgot to tell the inspection station that the VIN stored in the ECU would not match the paperwork, he got a little excited about that.

You should not need to mess with the key or the key coil. Just change the entire instrument cluster.
