Changing Halogens to HID Conversion Kit
After I had turned them down I did a test of my own by having a friend of mine drive the Disco as I drove toward it in my car, and I personally wasn't the least bit bothered by them. It didn't look any worse than some of the newer model SUV's that come with HID's from the factory.
There are several different prices for the H7 kits, but I do not see a differing kit in the picture. AK, which kit did you purchase from hidwholesale88?
I see there is a "super slim" kit as well. And they are Chinese (LXSUN), not German (Phillips and Sylvania).

AK,
If you are back in town, shout, I would like to come over and look at the end product.
Most of the kits for older Discos thru at least the 02's should be an H4 kit, that is what I have ti install on mine soon.

Not sure about the Disco I's, but on the II's there is a cap that covers access to the bulb. I just installed my kit today and had to leave this cap off so the wiring would be accessible. I'm considering cutting the cap to allow the wires to pass through. How did everyone else deal with this?
Additionally, I Velcro'ed the ballast to the inside of the fender wall, behind and to the side of the light cluster.

What year is your D2? If it is the early style, you can buy the HID dual conversion at different light ranges up to over 12,000K and from 35 or 50 watt systems. All are brighter then hell and both state and federal illegal, which doesn't seem to stop many of us.
I have a 35 watt, 6000K system sitting here for me to install, just haven't done it yet.
Let me know what and which system you install and hopw you like them.

The 2003-2004 use seperate bulbs for high and low beams (H7) while the D1 and early D2 use a single bulb for both (H4).
After driving with my HIDs for a while now I couldn't be more impressed. The light output and color is incredible and the high beams throw light out forever. At 100 yards they'll still blind you. The low beams are great and so far I have not had anyone flash their brights in protest.

My bulbs are the telescopic type that actually retract the bulb back into the base to change the beam pattern when I turn on my high beams. My lights don't actually get any brighter but the beam changes. With the light output I don't really feel it necessary to have them any brighter.
Ok you guys have me really confused, I looked on e-bay and the kits are either dirt cheap or expensive and I cant find any that are high and low beam.
Yes I want high beam as well, I do alot of night driving.
