changing transmission fluid

Park it on a slope as the good member has said to do.
Start it up.
Put in as much as you can.
You may or may not get moving again.
Your transmission computer has detected a fault.
May be a hard fault in the gears.
Or a soft fault.
Soft fault may be that the transmission ECU commanded a solenoid to close or actuate and it did not.
The solenoids control the shift points adn when they actuate, pressure is diverted to where it need to go to lock a clutch which holds the planetary gears for the desired ratio to match your terrain and speed.
A soft fault will clear.
Key off - engine off.
Then restart the engine.
You need to have enough fluid in for the transmission pump to suck it in
to the transmission pump intake via the filter
and pressurize the rest of the transmission and the torque convertor.

every fluid in you truck has a limit low and high and should not be over filled.
if you over fill things like say an oil pan or even a diff. that meens the crank or gear is now hitting the fluid causing it to foam.
Or you could be filling the axle tubes insteed of just the diff and you will have weaping axle seals.
Also foam does not lubricate nor does it pump to well.
you should alway check and fill fuild on level ground and only install the recommended amounts.
They are so exception to this rule, but none I have heard of on a disco.

Reason i said what i did was he has not performed thus task correctly the first time and now has no idea what he has, so get as much in as you can and "limp" it over to the transmission shop so that the can drain and re-fill properly so you don't toast your tranny. No its not a good idea to over fill any component in any vehicle duh but he was not told to drive even 5 miles this way just a direct route to the shop.

Just had it taken to a shop on a roll back. Gotta love AAA. For $100 they will change the t case both diffs and t fluid. Works for me, Its a little tight under the truck on the ground on my back for me to get at stuff. Thank you all for the awesome input!
