Default Cheap Aux Fans????

Well I just finished up with the head Gasket project and I'm on to the next project....

The Electric Auxilary Fans up front on my 98 disco. (It seems to be the HOT topic) with the late 90' Disco's right now. Here's my beef and my question:

1. Beef--- How come theses things are so F@#$ much? I can go to HOme Depot and buy for 10 bucks an huge box fan that has 10x the amount of plastic and a way large motor and winding for 110v, yet theses little 12v fans cost $300 F'n dollars........

2. Question---Any cheap ones out there? I've seen some universals on line for under 100 each. Are these worth it?

As for trouble shooting I have power going to the fans and I've jumped them out and they aren't work'n.

check on www.car-part.com for a recycler near you. There are 4 close to me here in Dallas under $100 and most yards will give you some sort of warranty on the part.

Toyota Corolla, $20 each, you need 2.
Take the motor out of the Toyota fans and install them into the LR fans.
www.autosportsunlimited.com
They use the same motor as the LR DI, I believe it is a mid to late '90's Corolla.
EDIT:everything new for a DI is so expensive because it is water proof, thats why the alternator costs $600, aux fans are $300, cant even imaginie what a brand new a/c compressor costs.

Got any idea how much a replacement engine wil cost you when one of you cheap fans fails, how about BIG $$$$$$$$.
Go to Roverlandparts.com and buy a couple guaranteed used once, that at least move the proper amount of air.

Default I hear ya

Yes those engines are a little pricy. in my eyes it's still hard justifing the raw materials for a plastic fan costing any where near 300 dollars.

I work in construction and I can buy a huge 30" house fan @ 1/3 hp (all Metal) and pull 6900cfm for the same price as this little thing.

I guess Ill be driven the Saab for another week.

Thanks anyhow....I'll do the right thing.

FYI-the fans for a Corolla are the exact same fans as the DI, same motor, same maufacture, same same.
You can still drive the truck without those fans too, just your a/c wont work very well when in traffic.

I replaced the auxillary fan in my wife's BMW 525 last year with one from the salvage yard for $50 and it has worked great since. On her 525 when the other fan locked up it blew the fuse. The car never overheated, but if you sat at a red light too long the A/C would start blowing warm. Most of the yards will give you a warranty on the fans. The yard I used gave a 90 day warranty on the fan.

Default Amp Question/Help

I had a question for the Amp draw on theses fan's and the Denso-CFM listing.

Any body Know or can anyone take an Amp reading for me?
What's the CFM per OEM Fan?

I have two affordable options ($50 each fan) I found,

1. pepboy's has a 10" fan that put's out 650cfm @ 5.4amps
2. Jeg's has a 10" fan that puts out 1000cfm @ 7amps.

I would do it myself but the my fans are dead. And as for the Junk yard Unit's...they were seized. also Roverland is out of stock on the used ones.
