Default Cheap Easy Headlight Cleaner

Off 'Deep Woods' mosquito spray. Try it. Thought it was a joke until I did it. Spray on... wait 10- 15 seconds and wipe off!

It polishes the plastic headlight lenses. By friend and I did the same thing to another friend's Subaru after we changed his timing belt. He lived out in the country, so OFF was a necessity while working outside.
Granted, it doesn't work quite as well as the off-the-shelf products intended for lens restoration but it works surprisingly well!

I'm curious because I have a set of 03 headlights that are begging to go on my 00. I took the major haze off with a Mother's kit but wondered how to keep them looking nice. Good tip!

I tried the kits with the sanding disks, sealer etc. not sure what seals it. It will always be a maintenance thing in my book. The Off spray dissolves the pollen and everything else on the lens easily. Just a quick fix cheap.

Try toothpaste. You will be surprised how well the fine grit in toothpaste can clear the fog in the lenses.

The best way to keep them nice looking after refinishing them is to apply a sealant like this:
Amazon.com: Blue Magic 730-6 Headlight Lens Sealer - 8 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: Blue Magic 730-6 Headlight Lens Sealer - 8 oz.: Automotive
.

I think I will stick with my maintenance free glass lenses in my D2.

All those are great, but even better is wet sanding with 600 grit, then wet sanding with 1000 grit, clear coating with an automotive clear coat, then polishing after the clear has cured for a day or two. Much more time consuming and a little more expensive, but it lasts as long as the lenses lasted from the factory. Sometimes longer.

I agree on wetsanding, polishing and applying clearcoat, but I must say the using toothpaste is a cheap way yet can provide a good result.

I had some brownish oxidation on the top of my '04 headlights. I used some Simichrome metal polish and was blown away with the results.
