After the nightmare of replacing the exhaust gaskets between the manifold and pipes I now have 2 fubar rear sensors. I must have banged them around.

Anyway I know this forum suggests the Walkers but has anybody had luck with the Ebay cheapos?

I wen't Walkers from RockAuto for around $175 including shipping but deep down wanted to try the less expensive ones.
In my experience I don't really know why there's a much difference except for the connector.
I can't see the built-in heater is different between brands, just makes it heat up.
The material used to create the voltage difference sent to the computer to adjust fuel can't be a whole lot different I imagine, OBDII is a standard. I would think that voltage output would be a standard as well, hence the material used would be standard.

Just my .02 cents, maybe I'm being too logical.

 

You might get lucky, but I can't say I would waste my time with the cheap-o's.
IMHO it's NTK O2s for about $45.00 each and back to HAPPY TOWN! Good Luck!

 

I don't necessarily recommend it, but I did this for my Ferrari and it worked fine (because $500+ per "Ferrari" O2 sensor is silly money to spend on a $5 part).

I bought the super cheap Chinese 4 wire O2 sensors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Oxygen-O2-S...xaCfoX&vxp=mtr

And I left the wiring from the factory Ferrari O2 sensors plugged in, but cut the 4 wires off of the bad Ferrari O2 sensors.

Then I stripped the ends of those factory wires.

Likewise, I cut off the "wrong" plastic plugs on the new Chinese O2 sensors and stripped those wire ends.

Then I wired the same color wires together to mate the new Chinese O2 sensors into the old and correct plastic plug connections/harness.

Wrapped each with electrical tape and it all worked.

The net effect was that I put the old, used, correct Ferrari plastic end connectors onto the new el-cheapo O2 sensors.


The problem *today* with all of the above is that the Chinese are shipping a lot of non-working new O2 sensors.

So don't just buy 4 in the link above for $0.60+/each. Buy a dozen. You might get 2 good ones out of the batch.

Don't buy "cheap" ones that cost $50/each, either. They are just as likely to be bad right out of the box "new."

Same with the expensive Bosch O2 sensors. They are likely to be bad right out of the box and you are in for $120/each to $170each for them!



Buy 2 Walkers, NTKs, or buy a whole bunch of really cheap 4 wire O2 sensors.

 

I’ve always used Bosch 02 sensors on all my D2’s with zero problems.

 

I tried the cheapos. They were all 4 DOA, don't waste your time.

I did get two bad Bosch sensors out if the box this last time around and ended up replacing them with Walkers which worked perfectly.

 

Walker seems to be what people are turning to in light of so many Bosch failures out of the box, and cheap sensor failures at low mileage.

 

I found universal Bosch sensors that will match but you have to splice your connector plug on. Only 21 bucks apiece.

 

I recently bought that exact set from Ebay. They didn't work so well. The connectors were reversed between the front sensor and rear sensor ( tip/probe of front and rear O2s are different).

I installed all 4, but had to resort to buying a set of Bosch fronts in order to get everything running right because I was getting no voltage reading from the two installed upstream.

FWIW, one of the Bosch sensors was also bad brand new, and these sensors were purchased to replace a previous set of Bosch O2s that were only 25k old.

 

I went with Ultra-Power from Rock Auto. Total for 4 was about $90 shipped.. No issues in 3 months.
