Default Check Engine Light & other issues

1998 LR Disco Series 1 4.0L auto 87,000, the check engine light (red) came on about 1,000 miles ago. It starts and runs fine, no problems. ODBII scan shows no error codes. I erased the codes but the light is still on. Any suggestions on what it is and how I can get it turned off?

Gas guage stopped working and now shows empty all the time.

The power lock on the rear passenger side door recently stopped working.

The cruise control no longer works. The main switch on the dash shows a red power light when on but the cruise control will not set from the controls.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil

I think that it is the maintenance light. How do I turn it off?

I fixed the cruise control by repairing a split vacuum line.

I rechecked and it is the service engine light (red) not the check engine light. My code scanner shows no codes but can't reset the light. It starts and runs no problems. Any way other than going to LR to get it reset?

There is a relay shaped device behind the passenger kick panel, you'll see a Rover emblym on it with a pin hole. Take a paper clip wire, insert it in the hole to short out the switch and it is done for another 80K.

The key will need to be on with the light red service on.

I found the relay and stuck a paper clip in it with the switch on but it didn't reset the light. i couldn't feel anything with the paper clip. Do I just insert it straight to the bottom? Should I feel it connect with something?

There are two small metal points that need to have a bridge across to complete the circuit.
I used a small screw driver to go from one to the other to get the light to go out.
