guys, first of all thanks for the advice about the rear view mirror it works perfectly. but..... this afternoon 'bout an hour after i filled up some gas ,the check engine light's on , i thought the car about to broke down but it was running normal like nothing happens. so again i need some help on this , or should i bring the car to dealership ? if i do ,how much it will cost me ? thanks again guys....

 

check your gas cap, make sure you tightend it all the way

 

do exactly as the light says... go check your engine... check the oil level, coolant level, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, windshield washer fluid, spark plug wires... everything you can get your hands on...

If all checks out, take it to Auto Zone they do a free check. Since my Rover is immobile, I had to put a deposit down and take the scanner TO the Rover, but literally, you can be in and out of there in ten minutes, provided they're not busy.

 

ok guys i just checked it with my friend who own a OBDII scanner and it says the O2 sensors bad from bank 1 and bank 2 dont know what that means but he told me its nothing to do with the engine its just the emision , but i dont know how much the sensors cost .... any ideas fellas? thanks again .

 

What year Disco? D1 O2 sensors are about $125 a piece and there are 4 of them. D2 sensors are a little cheaper. When was your last tune up (plugs and wires)? Bad plugs and wires can cause O2 sensor faults to show up.

 

its 97 disco and i bought it with 140 k miles and counting . im not sure when did the last tune up but i 've been doing some browsing on O2 sensors and i didnt know what should i get , 'cuzz there's alot of them with different wires so any idea's AK Rover ? btw thanks a lot for the info AK ...... $125 a piece and i need to change 2 of them .... ouch

 

First, for all those that responded, fluids, of any kind won't throw a fault code. Good idea to do anyway but not a cause for a CEL.

Jim, at your mileage, replace all 4 02, yes I know they are expensive, but they are way past do.
Check out Atlantic British, I think they have them on sale.
Then plan on doing a full service on this vehicle, because of the high mileage and lack of maintance information.

Your truck has 4 O2 sensors and when you replace them you will need to replace all four.
