Default Chip Repair with a heated windshield?

Has anyone done chip repair with a heated windshield?

I'm not as smart as Spike and have a $500 deductible on a new windshield, so I thought maybe a DIY repair kit would work?

Thanks!

I did it this past weekend worked great cost me around 12 bucks for the kit at advanced auto and you get to keep your heated windshield. My ride's paid for so I only pay for state minimum insurance, no free windshield repair or replacement.

what product did you use and is your windshield heated?

hilltoppersx...I hear you...but I love the heated windshield in the cold Washington state winters...I'd rather "super glue" the chip (for lack of a better term) for $12 and live to fight another winter.

Does anyone know if using a DYI kit to fix a windshield chip will interfere with the elements in the windshield and prevent the defrost feature from working?

get a 50$ deductible...

windshields are not the same as your collision/comp coverage

i had my windshield replaced last month for free....most shop will wave your deductible if its 50$ or less.......

but like i said earlier ....windshields are different that your regular deductible.....

i think i paid an extra 5$ a month for it

timdunbar...I guess I should have read a few posts before I posted mine...Permatex kit is what I was interested in.

Any one else use any another kit to repair a windshield chip about the size of a quarter?

I have an 03 disco & had a pretty big chip in my heated windshield, my deductible is $1,000 so I took it to one of those free rock chip repair stands that are usually in mall parking lots etc. took about a half an hour to fix, (had it done last December) and it has not gotten any bigger, insurance company needs to authorize, (they will call for you), but you pay nothing out of pocket. I had to replace the heated windshield with a big crack about 2 years ago and it cost me about $800 so this was definitely a better option. If the chip does start to get bigger you can take it back with the paperwork they give you and they will repair again.
