I used the Permatex kit to repair a rock chip in my windshield. Having had another repaired professionally in my old ranger, it looks the same so I am pleased. I just followed the instructions to the letter and everything looks great I will let you know if the damage spreads. Only problem is it's a one kit one repair type of deal, but for 12 bucks thats a pretty good price in my opinion. I have two more to fix so I will get a couple more kits and take pictures.

 

I would just pay the guy to come and do it while you are at work. That way they come fix the problem and your insurance pays the bill no questions asked.

 

my insurance replaces my winsdheilds for free because with the heated windscreens...your not supposed to repair them....

Yeah free glass coverage is a must if you live in the snow belt, salt trucks crack windshields all the time.

 

Well I repaired mine because I don't have windshield replacement or repair. It cost me 12 bucks to do it and it looks beautiful.

 

Glad it worked out, most of those repairs work really well if done properly.

Now dont think I'm a jerk, but I pay $12 per year for full glass coverage on my truck, any broken glass gets replaced for free.
Went to Cherry Festival, came back to the truck and the drivers outside mirror was broken...replaced for free.
Windshield, free, side window...you get the idea.
$12 per year per car $0 deductible on glass.
