Default Cleaned Throttle Body...Check Engine Light

I just finished cleaning the throttle body of my 04 Disco following Mike's instructions. It took a second to start and ran pretty rough, which I believe is expected. Now the check engine light is on, I assume this is normal because of the carb cleaner that had to be burned out of the engine from the cleaning process. I'm going out to try and get the codes read and cleared tonight.

Edit: I don't have a code reader yet, and in calling autozone they said that due to a new law, they can read codes but not clear them anymore?? What gives?

Give it a day or so, it will probably go off after a couple of start cycles.

So you are selling a used car yourself, somebody is coming over tonight to look at it and the CEL is on.
You go to AutoZone and have the CEL cleared, the guy buys it and it wont pass inspection next week because the CEL light came back on.
Now AutoZone is liable.
Thats why they cannot clear the CEL anymore.

I just did my throttle body and seafoam treatment and the check engine light came on for a bit so I just disconnected the battery for ten minutes or so and it was gone. My first time doing the seafoam and leaving the neighborhood it smoked so bad a passing vehicle had to pull over and wait for it to clear up. Then I almost had to pull over laughing from the look on her and her kids face as they tried to get the windows up as fast as they could.

It makes sense; however, I think that if you are able to explain to them twhat was done to trigger the light (like cleaning etc.) then they should be able to turn it out.

I went up to Autozone and talked to a different guy, and he came right out and cleared the codes for me, so its all good for now. I'm going to buy a scanner soon. Thanks for the responses, I figured it was no big deal, but I've had the truck for 3 days so I'm still very protective of it.

Autozone told me the same thing. For a hundred and change, they'll rent it to you to turn it off yourself, then bring it right back in for your money back. i even did it right in their parking lot.
