Default Clicking and Shaking ChaChaCha

Hello. I'm a stay-at-home mom and Disco II owner. About a week ago I noticed a clicking sound (it is not constant) coming from underneath towards the front. It sounds like the baseball card in the spokes of my sons bike. It also vibrates only when I push on the gas. My guess is either differential or transmission. I'm leaning toward tranny because today I noticed a small amount of orange fluid on the driveway located on the drivers side of my block toward the front. I've checked my fluids and can only assume this is tranny fluid. Does anyone have any ideas?

QUIT DRIVING IMMEDIATELY...have you re-built the front drive shaft with grease-able u-joints? If not, you may have to buy a new transmission soon because of the hole that will develop when the drive-shaft smacks it good. PLEASE read this thread first: https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...e+transmission Then read this thread on how to fix: https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=29302

The orange fluid sounds like dex-cool...how many miles and has the head-gaskets been replaced?

x2 DO NOT DRIVE ANY MORE UNTIL YOU HAVE THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT CHECKED!!

The only orange fluid is going to be Dexcool antifreeze. Transmission fluid will either be red (if it's new) or black (if it's old) and of course shades in-between. Has your coolant reservoir gone down any?

Default Thank you for replying!

It's a 2000 with 139,554 miles. I did have the head gaskets done in Dec 2009. At that time I also had my coolant system flushed due to air in the system which made a gurgling sound behind the glovebox area. Sound went away after that until about a month ago. When the gurgle came back I noticed my resevoir was about empty. I added a gallon of water. I have no idea what kind of coolant is in there. The only place I can find to add coolant is in the resevoir. In my Jeep you could put coolant right in the radiator (or resevoir).

So, this sounds like two seperate issues... GREAT! I appreciate the feedback and welcome some more!

What these guys said, DO NOT DRIVE THIS TRUCK ANYWHERE!!!

You have a coolant leak, it is leaking Dex-Cool, have the shop look at it AFTER you get the front drive shaft taken care of.
Anytime you hear that sound behind the dash you are low on coolant.
Any yes, the only place you can add coolant is the reservoir which is part of the cooling system, it is also under pressure just like the radiator.

Thanks for the thread links, MWINDTH! So, I'm gathering the shaking is consistant with drive shaft issues. And orange fluid is radiator?

Send me your tele number and I'll call you today. As already mentioned, stop driving it today cause a failure is in your very near future and it will cost you a front drive shaft and possibly a new tranny.

You guys are awesome!! Thank you to all of you that replied! Thanks DiscoMike for your help on the phone! I did just as you said. Removed drive shaft and turned that little **** to transfer power to the rear. I took the drive shaft to Driveline this morning. It took them less than one hour to rebuild it and I already put it back on!My Grand Total was $126.00!! I wish all my car problems could be this easy!
