Default Climate Control bulb replacement

The light for my climate control temp switch is out.
I removed the switch cover to reveal a small light bulb.
It looks like it twists out or is it a peanut bulb (bayonet-type)?

Also can anyone explain how the climate control unit is removed from the center console?

Lastly, I have read the replacement bulbs are only available through the dealer. Anyone find another source???

Thanks,
Ed

The bulbs need to be replaced from the inside of the unit, so the unit needs to be removed from the dash. Remove the coin tray/ash tray holder. Remove the clock and switches (use a credit card along the top and pop them out). The is a metal clip on the left and right side of the unit; depress the clips and slide the unit out and unplug. You with then need a very small phillips screw-driver to open the unit.

BTW, the bulbs are available through BP Utah or Rover's North. Hope this helps...
