Default Climate control question

Has anyone experience any lag with their climate control when you first start your disco? My climate controls don't work until the truck warms up. Usually works after about 5 - 10 minutes driving or idling. Any suggestions?

Ummm, that's by design. The system won't start up until the coolant is warm enough to not just blow freezing cold air on you.

Manual fan speed control work? As previously mentioned "auto" in not going to blast you with cold air.

It won't let me adjust the temp up or down or the speed.

What about the defrost mode? That usually works when cold and blows lots of air, though cold air... and fires up all the screen heaters.

It should run through the full spectrum of temp adjustments even in position 2 on the key. Admittedly it takes awhile to heat up during cold weather but in the warmer weather the a/c should work OK after 5 minutes provided the temp is set at around 4C below ambient. Just as some advice, to feel cool from climate control it only has to be 4-5C below the registering external temperature but many set the a/c far too low, i.e. at say 16C in an ambient temp of 30C where it should be set at 25-26C. It's all in the LR handbook which is also online.

Sounds like an electrical issue that goes away when it warms up a bit. May need to clean some connectors or grounds.

The controls should work at all times. Yours is an anomaly. I had to replace my control unit because the backlighting wouldn't work properly on my original even after replacing the bulbs. You can get another unit off of EBay for $20-30. There are also several people on the forum that will have it for the same price and you would be helping their business but it should be replaced before it starts acting up even worse.

X2

I had this issue over 3 years ago, would get into the Rover and it would drive down the road but nothing would work. Defrost wouldn't work, radio wouldn't work, wipers wouldn't work, temp controls, etc. Gear box said I was in Park but I was driving down the road..I felt like I was going insane..or in the twilight zone. Once it warmed up some, temp controls, etc. would work. Grounds were cleaned and all was well. I don't think replacement is necessary.

Yeah I'll check my grounds and connectors first before buying a new unit. I have one on my ebay watch for $19.00 if I need one.
