Default Which Code Reader?

My OBD2 code reader was stolen.
I have an UG for real time temperatures and other fun stuff, but I need to buy a replacement code reader for diagnostics.

Any recommendations for the D2 ?

I'm a big fan of the bluetooth OBDII readers you can get on Amazon. I use Torque on my phone to interface with them.

That said, I've had 1/4 defective on arrival.

Robert, the UG will read and clear codes.

I also have the Nanocom which has been very useful.

Heh ASCG, thanks for replying. I use the heck out of my UG and am on the second mount. (they get brittle and crack in the sun over time) but I need something a little more on the diagnostic front for working on my other Disco 2.

Robert,
When I first got my Disco, I borrowed a code reader from a Indie shop, owned by a longtime friend. It is made by Launch, and called Creader. He offered to sell it to me for 199.00, but I found one on Ebay for 99.00. It is can be updated from the web and has worked great for me. They make several different models and they are not the cheapest, but will do a lot of different makes and models.
I do not have UltraGauge, but i use DashCommand, which communicates via wifi, for my running temps, 02, MAF among a bunch of other available gauges. I used to use it in AppRadio mode with my NEX, but with the Iphone6 mounted to the right of my hi/lo shifter, I seldom hook it up to the Apple A/V adapter.
Joe

This is a great scanner for the money, It takes an hour or so to set up on line, but it reads abs, srs, for more makes and models than you can imagine. Money well spent.

Amazon.com: Autel Autolink AL619 ABS/SRS CAN OBD2 Code Scanner: Automotive Amazon.com: Autel Autolink AL619 ABS/SRS CAN OBD2 Code Scanner: Automotive

some good options here.

What I should have mentioned is that i'd really like the option to be able to program systems, (keys), see what the BCU is doing and for that I'd need somthing like a Hawkeye, Lynx , Black Box Solutions etc

Can anyone weigh in on which one of the programming units they prefer ?

I like your thinking. I wish I had the extra funds to get 1 that could do that.

I seem to be collecting Disco 2's right now so it'd prove to be quite useful!
