Default Codes: 4035, 4075, 4114, 4167

99 Disco 2
77k miles

Took my disco in for faulty blower, to LR dealership. I've been driving with Three amigos now for about 3 months so I asked them to read them for me. Bounced back 4035, 4075, 4114, 4167.

They told me I needed to replace my Hydraulic Control Unit. Part is $1893.23 and would take 2.5 hrs to install at LR dealer. They then said once this was done they could then find out if there are other problems associated with the other aforementioned codes. They weren't sure that installing the part would fix the three amigos. They said it could be a domino effect. Replace part, find other things wrong.

Next they looked at the blower. Found out the Communication Control Unit wasn't working. Part is $378.38 and would take 2.2 hrs to install. They asked me if I knew if the previous owner had been fooling around with the electrical system. They asked because the mechanic working on it said he'd never seen both of these parts go out together since he'd been working on LR's (8 years).

They gave me the part # for the HydroCU it's SRB101203

I asked for the CCU part # but the one they gave me doesn't seem to be valid: YQE00410

SO...If I allow them to fix everything the grand total, with labor will be $2741.61 plus or minus. Thoughts?? Suggestions?

Oh. They also said that the codes/HydroCU issue renders the vehicle "Unsafe to Drive" because it's hydro related..vis-a-vis Brakes..thoughts?

Thanks

-Wes

When you brake hard, do you feel the ABS pulsate thru the brake pedal?
What if any thing is feeling wrong with your truck?

Never felt anything wrong with the brakes. The dealer said the brake pedal had to be pushed almost to the mat to engage the brakes. I didn't notice it being that bad...but it did seem a little "deep". I thought it was just a LR thing.

I noticed the first time I braked on ice (about 1 week ago) that the ABS pulsated, hummed and vibrated a little...but it sounded like normal ABS sounds to me. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I wouldnt let them replace the ABS modultor. Have them check the wheel sensors and brake pads.
If your pads are REAL thin it can give that "soft" pedal feel. And I believe that if the pads are to thin it will set off the three amego's.
But you never start with the expensive stuff, always start cheap and with the most common failed parts. Wheel sensors and brake pads are common things to go bad.
So is it the electronic (HVAC) controls on the dash that are bad and causing your blower not to work? If so check out this site.

Default RE: Codes: 4035, 4075, 4114, 4167 **Update**

4035 - R/R Outlet Valve

4075 - R/R Outlet Valve Faulty

4114 - Shuttle Valve

4167 - Pump Motor Failed

Completed test confirmed internal short in valve, motor and switches.
____

That was the exact wording on the service record from LR dealer. I heard that replacing the shuttle valve would fix the problem. That if it wasn't working that it would fault other codes, like I have. The dealer refused to replace just the shuttle valve..they would only replace the entire modulator valve kit. Price of the valve is $50. Cost of entire kit $729.50. Anyone have experience with any of the aforementioned problems??

Thanks
