Had my Mechanic pull and write down the codes while he had my Disco awhile back. This is what he wrote down:

ABS
-89 Front Right Sensor Output Too Low
-117 Front Right Sensor Output Late or Intermittant
-134 Shuttle Valve Switch(electrical failure)

SRS
-9008 Open Circuit Driver Airbag Circuit

I currently have the 3 Amigos, SRS and CEL on. The CEL was not on at the time of the scan.

So if you pulled codes today you most likely have some new ones. A parts store will usually read them for free, and there are apps for OBDII to smart phone, cheap code readers, and things like the Ultra Gauge which reads and resets codes and displays live data ($70). Some codes start as pending, then the ECU waits until they happen again before turning on the CEL.

 

Are you doing the 3 amigos repairs or is the shop, if they are how much did they estimate the job would cost?

 

I'll be doing it myself. I'm thinking the first thing I should do is check and replace if needed the right front TC sensor. Any pointers? I recently changed both front sensors on my 99 p38. Are they the same? Never messed with the Disco's sensors before?

 

The ultra gauge reads codes? I didnt know that. I may have to buy one.

 

The Ultra gauge does not read 3 amigos codes.
Not sure why you only want to repair one of the faults, the system still will not work and your lights are still on. Go to the top of this section and read the write up for how to repair the 134 code, pretty easy to do and if you have a problem, shout and we will help you.
By the way, how long has it been since you did a full 2 quarts DOT 4 brake flush, if over 20,000 to 25,000 miles, might want to do that also cause burned brake fluid will always turn on the 3 amigos.

 

I'm going to do both the sensor and the shuttle valve repair. I just meant that I was gonna start with the sensor since this job is fresh in my memory. I just replaced my p38's front sensors not long ago at all. Fairly painless process. Are the Disco sensors pretty much the same set up? Ive never messed with them before.

 

The sensor you will get for the discovery does not just plug in. At the hub, it is the same as the P38, but there were a lot of issues with the connector, so land Rover just took that out, the replacement sensors are now hardwired to the ECU, it's not bad to do, especially the RF, as the ECU is under the RH side of the dash.

You will also want to buy the replacement o-rings from Falcon Works in Tucson and I would suggest you doing the ground wire modification also while you are in there.
Make sure to do a full 2 quart DOT 4 brake flush when done.
