Default Coil Brand

I had ordered Bosch coils, just showed up today and was hoping to install this weekend. The ones I received are All Makes, I know some of their stuff is garbage, how bad are the coils? Given the amount of labor involved, is it worth installing the All Makes or wait a week to get the correct parts?

I can’t speak to Allmakes springs, but they shouldn’t be sending you a different brand than you ordered. As you say, for the effort involved, it’s probably not worth installing them. Last year I installed Old Man Emu springs and I’m really happy with them.

Correct, never considered Bosch made springs.

If you ordered Bosch you should have received Bosch. I've used generic ignition coils on a D2 without issues, but AllMakes4x4 & Bosch = AllMakes4x4 is just going to be the lowest Chinese stuff they could get their hands on IMHO.

I agree you should have gotten what you ordered but I've never had a problem with the generic Chinese coils

Springs? I appreciate that springs are coils, but I think he was talking about ignition coils. So far as I know, Bosch does not market suspension parts. :-)

Yeah, sorry, bozo move on my part. I had recently been discussing the difference between coil or air springs on the P38. I was only thinking suspension, and at the same time I was surprised to “learn” that Bosch made coil springs.

God bless you, Harv. You are a great contributor here. If I'm ever again in BC it would be an honor to meet you, and Richard Gallant. Unlikely to happen, but ya never know.

Yes please. I need to meet Richard in person yet myself. We’re not quite in the same part of BC, but both belong to the BC Land Rover club. It’ll happen sometime.
