04 disco, 203,000 miles with Bosch engine. I'm looking to replace my coil packs when I do my wires & plugs and am running into some confusion.

Atlantic British offers a complete coil pack for $270, Lucky8 has it for $238. Or they both offer the individual ignition coils for about $50 each, so about $100 for two.

Why in the world would anyone pay an extra $170 for the complete coil pack? Am I missing something? Can't be that hard to disassemble the pack and replace 2 coils for $100 can it?

 

no it's not. Once you get them out, each pack is held in by 4 screws

 

The cheap coil packs on eBay also worked just fine for me and a couple other people I know of.

 

Thanks guys. Got two on order for $45 each from Lucky8. I'm sure the money I saved will finds it's way back into the Rover regardless!
