hi all

i want to integrate my GPS into my D1 dash by putting it where the ash tray/coin tray is.

obviously the ash tray just pulls out, but how is the coin tray above removed without breaking it?

 

There are four tabs, two on top and two on botton that need to be pressed to pull it out. When I first did it I tried small screwdrivers and though I was able to get it out, it felt like it was going to break any second. I later used some aftermarket radio removal keys to slide in and press them down. That worked a lot better for me once I was able to line them up. I've heard some people say to use a card like credit card or gift card to slide in and push them down. I've never tried the card but heard it works well.
