Default Combination turn signal/headlights switch - 95Discovery

95 Discovery

The dash lights and running lights do not work, and it’s because my combination turn signal/headlights switch went out on me. I have installed a new switch (item below) and now have a new problem. The head lights and dash lights will not go off when the switch is turned to the off position. I noticed some burned plastic on the large wire connector which connects to the back of the switch specific to one female connector. There is also some burned residue on one of the electrical pins on the old switch. Everything works with the new switch, but I can’t seem to turn the lights off. When I put the old switch back on, once again no dash lights and running lights, but I can turn the headlights on and off???

Is there something other than the switch which needs fixing or configuring?

Could there be something wrong with the new switch?

Thanks.
