Howdee folks!

Well, after changing BCU on my 1999 D2 V8 I have a few fault codes I don't know how to fix.
The codes are P1672 (39) and P1668 (148), both related to immobilizor that doesn't accept the code in the new BCU, I guess.

I fitted a 2:nd hand BCU from a TD5 and also the keyfob, so all functions are working again. I did the new EKA code of cause...

My question is, if I change the BeCM aswell, would that help? Is there a easier way to recode them?

 

My understanding is thet the BCU will re-learn the IDM with key on for a few minutes. But a shop level computer is required to make ECU recognize the replaced BCU. You would also need to clear the 1668 issue (open conection between BCU and ECU) - perhaps just one pin on a connector.

You would want to sk a shop if they have the software capability to do this work, if they work on a lot of Rovers they probably have purchased the software for their computer. A Hawkeye might do this as well, but please investigate that before purchase.

Well, I got a Launch and a Hawkeye, but non of them seames to do the job. As I undersand a T4 or Autologic would do the trick, but I don't have any of them...
I tried to bypass the Immobilizer by the fuelpump relay with no luck, it seames as the immobilizer cut off the injectors...

 

It is robust immobilization, designed to protect the Royals and what ever they must carry with them through the realm. That includes a diaper bag now for the young prince.

After banging my head, I borrowed a Autologic to download all info from the old box and trasfered it into the new one. Then everything worked!
The thing is that the vin.no is locked in the box and as said earlier in this thread, it requiered a shop level computer to change it...
