Unless you got the time on your hands, $700 for labor is not bad. With parts and everything you are looking at at least $1100 I would think. I'm on break until I have to teach a class next month so I figured I might as well do it and learn about my truck at the same time.

I'm in Northeast PA. Labor rates here are definitely not as high as NY or NJ. I think he's $50-60 per hour but I'm really not sure.

I am supplying mech. with gaskets and bolts, new polyvee belt and 6 Qts. Royal Purple 10w40... which he's fine with. let us know what you plan to do, if you are going to do the work yourself or if you need a Mechanic to do this, in which case i can suggest someone competent for you in VT....

I think I have enough information. I'm going to order the gaskets and bolts and move forward with my local mechanic. I am amazed at how quickly you can get advice on this forum; thanks to all.

also might be a good idea for you to supply your mechanic with a copy of the RAVE cd so that he has the torque specs when he puts everything back together, and any other info. he may need
