Default The complete difference between 2003 D2 and 2004 D2

Hey guys I was just wondering besides the CDL what are the main differences in the two trucks?

I was just day dreaming today about gradually updating my 2003 to an 04. What would have to be done?

I guess a CDL and the 04 SE side emblems would probably make it convincing enough.

The roof rail bars... the 04 has big fat round ones, pretty distinctive.

If you've got crossbars or any roof rail system at all going now, I'd stay with the skinny bars. The same gutter rack system could work on both, but its been a pain trying to find the tubular rail crossbars.

Those crossbars are scarce, if you are willing to shell out the $$$ for them then you can get them at a dealer. Discovery II (1999-04) 2004 DISCOVERY ROOF RAIL-GRABBER CROSS BAR SET-Land Rover Rocklin-Niello Land Rover Dealer-California
Otherwise shop in the UK.

Changes from '03 to '04

-CDL
-2.5" diameter aero roof rails
-dimensional raised "LAND ROVER" lettering on hood and side fenders (i.e. SE, HSE, etc.)

*The raised lettering on the hood and fenders of the '04 does look a lot better than the more decal-like lettering on the earlier models.

Aside from that, they're identical.

instead of buying another 4.6 you should invest in a different model. get yourself an LR3, LR4 or a 25 yr old defender.

I think the OP intends to make the mechanical/cosmetic upgrades to his '03 so that it is indiscernible from an '04.

Yes it is not driven enough! It's been too busy being repaired and upgraded haha.

I don't know if I'll actually make it into an 04 it's just something I was thinking about and so I'm asking what the differences are. I wish I could get my hands on a defender
