Default Compression check

How do you keep a 2000 Disco II gasoline engine from starting if you want to do a compression check on a cylinder? I know I could pull all the plug wires but then they would arc to ground. I can not pull the coil wire because you can not get to them. So how do I keep it from starting?

Is there a fuse I can pull to kill the ignition or a fuse to kill the fuel pump? Would these actions hurt anything else?

The coils have #14 fuse position under the dash. Did my compression check 140 pounds. Was showing #6 as a misfire. Looked at the spark plug it looked good. I fitted the spark plug on to the wire and I really had to work to get it all the way on and I could not here it click. I worked the boot up higher on the plug and the spark plug fit way better. Put it all back together cleared the code, started it and no check engine light. Will take it for a drive tomorrow. I am pretty sure that was the problem not getting a good solid connection and the boot worked itself away from the spark plug.
