Default Connector under fan hub assembly?

I was replacing my water-pump and came across this coolant soaked connector (please see arrows in the pic). I cleaned it up. Just curious what this connector is for? I tried to look up the Rave and could not find the right diagram. Can someone let me know please?

Thanks!

Crank Position Sensor or CPS as you'll see it referred to.

Hope that helps.

Yup! Pain in the butt to replace it when the engine is all together. Much easier when the fan etc. is off.

By the way...nice collection of P.Cars and the fastback in your sig I've had a few Porsche's. I gave up on them when they built the Cayenne. lol

The P-car hobby was nice when it was just me and my wife for the first 10 years of our marriage. Unfortunately, it was not practical now with 3 young sons. This is the reason that we ended up with a Disco and an off-roading hobby now. More fun with the kids.

That is the CAM POSITION SENSOR that is under the water pump and mounts into the front timing cover. A little easier to get to than the crank position sensor which is at the back of the engine down behind the exhaust manifold where the engine bolts to the transmission drivers side on NAS (North American Specification) trucks.
Crank position sensor triggers from your flywheel. Cam position sensor triggers from your cam gear.

No problem. Mine has been oil soaked, coolant soaked and completely covered with crud. They are pretty solid.
