Default Wheel hub assembly 2000 Discovery

Does anyone have any experience with the rear wheel hub assembly. I have a Disco 2000 and they are both leaking, making braking alittle scary. I have priced them and they look to be about 400$ a side. Does anyone know about re-built ones that are cheaper? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

www.roverlandparts.com has good used products. Good people to deal with.

If it is just the rear o-ring, you can but them at Atlantic British for about a dollar a piece. If it is the actual hub, then as mentioned by Spike, go buy a good guaranteed used one.

I would take offense to that if I could be offened.

Most likly it is your axle seals leaking.
www.atlanticbritish.com.
UrbanPanzer has a nice web page with how to stuff on a DII, including replacing a hub.
I have his page bookmarked but of course I am not signed on under my screename so I cant paste a link for you.

If you are going to just replace the O ring ( http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/FTC4919G.cfm ) on the rears then you can just pull the axle out with the hub intact and slide the O ring over the axle and down to the hub. i have done this about 5 times on the rear. But if removing the hub, you can either use a puller like Urban Panzer or once the hub and axle are removed together, have someone drop the weight of a sledge hammer on the top of the axle (with wood in between) and it will drop straight out. no force required to re insert the axle into the hub.

I didn't have a puller so that's why I used gravity.
