The trailing arm mount being re-welded sounds ominous

Coolant is a big deal it has to going somewhere - and these engines are not overheat friendly

Transfer case could be wet from the same leak as the oil pan if it is the front oil seal around 200.00 gets it done.

Power steering hoses can be a big deal as it could be the pump hoses or both.

Personally I would walk away - this truck sounds like it has had very poor maintenance and may have more hidden issues. These are expensive to repair.

The other option to make a hard offer of no more than 2500 - 3000.00 tax in - if it is not a daily driver. That gives you 2500 - 3000 for repairs and I guarantee you will have repairs.

But a quick search on Autotrader found 4 between 3000 and 6000 dollars. So if you really want a Land Rover Discovery you might want to keep looking

Pre-sale inspections include more than just an exterior scan? Like at least pulling the codes, comments on engine performance, etc.

I'd probably pass on the rust alone. Got to at least start off with a good chassis.

Due to rust, $2k tops. You’ll have $8k+ to make it right- and that’s before you know what’s wrong with them the motor, which could be completely wasted.

But for me, too may tell tale signs of long term use/neglect: the coolant, the rust, the dirt in certain places, the prior weld job (which I’d never trust unless x rayed). Etc. you’ll be chasing your tale for years sorting everything out.

If they wanna fire sale it, sure. But over $5k? Nope.

Thanks everyone - it’s hard not to fall in love with these, but I’ll pass as suggested and keep looking....

Nope we get the same as you, we are too small a market. If I could have bought a diesel I would have. There a few around but all imported.
