Being new here, and re reading my post, I completely understand the warning from both of you and its appreciated. However, I am looking at this truck as a project. I am looking for a foundation to create yet another project. I am not counting on this as a daily driver. I already have one of those. If I get a good foundation for the right price, I am ok with that. I have been looking around and I can probably find a decent running truck for around 3000 to 3500. If I can get this one right, and since I am going to change a lot anyhow, I am fine with replacing the ecu. I am not afraid of purchasing a programmer because I know that I will be upgrading as I break things. I have done several projects ranging from Toyota pickups, 68 Camaro, Chevy trucks, A bmw, well you get the picture.

I am more concerned about getting a truck that I thought I would need to put around 1000 buck to get it started and it cost me 3500. Again thank you for everyone's input. I think this will be a fun project even if I don't start with this particular truck.

Budget is way too high - I had a bad ecu in a disco recently (one O2 sensor circuit did not work), local rover shop reprogrammed a spare I had laying around from a junkyard pull for $125.
