Fairly new to the Land Rover Discovery 2 research and I've landed on the 2004 as the best option for me. I've been looking online over the last few weeks and I feel like I've finally found a truck that looks to be in good shape, with low(ish) mileage and the trim I want. Hoping to get some feedback from more seasoned folks about whether this is something worth pursuing.
Thank you! This is the feedback I was hoping for. Very constructive.
I've seen a lot of vehicles for sale online that have been cleaned up too well, almost to a fault, because the cleaning masks a lot of the issues. I'm probably going to buy a vehicle remotely so I'll be sending a mechanic to look at whichever auto I go after. The checklist in the above reply will be helpful!
I’d sell you my 04 in Vienna Green, black interior, 7 seater, no sunroofs, 3inch RTE lift, new shocks, extremely clean inside & out, 2 key fobs (not broken), 2 keys, and owners manual for 9k. That would include a rebuilt 4.6L engine with a crowler cam I’ll sit in the back plus the 4.6L under the hood. Engine currently in it runs excellent, but the oil light flickers once it’s warm. I just never have found the time to take the flawless 4.6L I built off the engine stand and install it. HVAC is ice cold, and everything works.
I just don’t drive it due to having 5 other Land Rovers. Those dudes in Houston are shady IMHO. They slap on cheap tires, cheap lifts, and cheap off road winches/lights and ask a TON for them.
Just be sure you know what you're getting into. Sunroof leaks are an issue but nothing you can't fix yourself. Also note that this is an expensive hobby - even if you do the work yourself! Check out my build list cost: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
I also find that a lot of folks will focus on making their Disco's look cool while neglecting the fact that there is usually a lot of repair/maintenance-type work which should take priority. Take a look at this sticky: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...service-29020/
