Yes there is a recall on the bad part. Check it out here:

Land Rover WILL take care of the problem since it was a national recall. Some have already been fixed so bring it by to check on that. You may find that it doesnt even effect your truck, but is good to know either way.

I think what happened was I was looking through the recalls and I accidentally put the wrong link on. You can find the one for the oil pump at that site. Sorry I didnt catch that on my own! MY BAD!
Whew... glad to know I hadn't lost it. You have no idea how many times I re-read the posts trying to figure out what I was missing, as often the obvious escapes me.
I've got a 4.6 from 2001 in Range Rover SE...so is '03 the first year for 4.6s in a Disco, where as RR have always had 4.6s? Or just the HSE had the 4.6 and mines special?
Haha I'm just curious, thanks for the help guys!

wow I just bought a 2003 Discovery HSE.Reading the posts about the oil pump failure has me worried.
My VIN (3A803470) is in the range. I'm not sure what to do. Do I just hope my vehicle is ok?
Do I go to the dealer and say what? Do I try to find and purchase some sort of warranty in case the problem hits my vehicle?
aaaaaa.
Any advice.

Mine is in the vin range, has 105,000 miles, and to my knowledge has never had an oil pump problem. I bought it with 68,000 miles on the odometer, so it possibly could have happened with the previous owner. I'm calling the dealer today just to have them look up its service record, so if they find anything interesting regarding the oil pump I'll let you know. I wonder just what the percentage of failures within that vin range is.
