btw when you open the hood the light comes on and when you close the hood the light goes off!!!
Does the light go off? How do you know? It might be like the fridge!

the light is placed so that the button makes contact with the metal in front of the radiator shroud and when the hood light is on, and i shut the hood, the light goes off and when i open the hood the light comes on

you could probably get a actual hard wired light, snag a hood switch from the junk yard, and wire it up proper. I may try this and see how it turns out.
