My 97 does not have a light under the hood if that helps you any. Wish it did but right now it doesn't. You can buy lights with mercury switches built in so they come on when you open the hood if you really feel the need for a light under the hood.

yeah that helps, i dont really need the extra light but it wouldnt hurt to have something just in case a late night engine inspection is needed
i basically wanted to see if the previous owner broke the bulb and never replaced it, but come to think of it i cant even find the receiver that would hold the light bulb.
thanks AK

my 04 does not.

i bet it was a cost cutting move compared to the RR which i would think does have a light.

but on the flip side those underhood lights are usually pretty pathetic at best and you still end up with a flashlight under the hood.

Get yourself a good flashlight and keep it in with all of the tools you need with a rover.. You'll always have light, exactly where you need it..
I bought a streamlight stinger, and mounted the chargerunder the driver's seat (stole power from the seat control harness), it's always there when I need it, and always has good battery...
If you wanted to mount one under the hood, you probably could tap into the alarm switch for an on-off switch..

I think a headlamp is the best bet plus you get to look like a coal miner. Its tough to hold a mag light and work on your truck at the same time. (maybe a light monkey or small child that can be kept in the back to hold the light?)

X2 on the head lamp. I got 2 of them for camping and just keep one in the truck at all times (with a 2AA MagLite and 2D MagLite too). Holding a cold flashlight against your neck while trying to work in the dark is no fun.
