Default Coolant leak, rough idiling and check engine light

I have noticed the past few weeks that the coolant level has been droppinghowever I have not found where the leak is. Today the check engine came on, andI've noticed that the idling in gear was very rough however when I switched toneutral the idling got smoother.

When I look in the engine compartment I see what it looks like coolant inthe pan below the fan.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this please help. I don't have a scanner.

Thanks

It could be a headgasket leaking in to a cylinder causing your miss , prob right at start up than gets better .

Right after the check engine light came on is when I've noticed the rough idling. It could be a head gasket, I hope not. I will check it with a cold start.

If you have no scanner, many car parts stores will read codes for free. Be sure to write down the numbers and post back here.

As for the rough idle, how many miles on the engine, when was it last tuned along with new 8 mm silicone wires and what octane gas are you using?

Put the codes onto this BB here that you are getting from the code scanner.

You are probably getting a cylinder 1 or 2 or 7 or 8 misfire.

Your coolant is going into the engine - and out into the CAT.
The cats are burning the coolant and ruining the cats.

If you must drive it - put in 2 CANS of regular BARRS leaks to try to stop the coolant into the engine.

You need to replace the head gaskets right away.
Don't drive it you will RUIN the cat convertors.

Don't believe me:

I lived through this

I was recently experiencing a slow loss of coolant, luckily turned out to be the throttle body heater gasket... cheap fix.

However since I am getting close to the mileage where I'll need HG's I got two quotes both from reputable LR only indy shops, both in two different cities, both quotes were the same at $2495.00 parts and labor which included doing a valve job in both cases.

$3980 does not sound right... sounds way high. You should get some more quotes/second opinions.

Also I wouldn't personally have any work by someone who would put 10w30 penzoil synthetic in my truck.
