Coolant leak and what to do?
So I smelt a hint of coolant today and I went and investigated. This is what I found. Am I looking at a major problem or is it a easy hose swap. Kind of looks like the hose clamp is cutting into it. Will look into it further tomorrow. Figured I'd ask the experts here on the forum. Thanks Stev-o
go do a pressure test on your coolant system. If you smell coolant there is a high chance you are leaking. Could be something as simple as loose clamp. but you need to find out before it turns into something bigger.
Just look around the throttle body and if you seen one drop of coolant that is most likely your leak. You can easily block it off. There is no need for it unless you live in an extremely cold climate.
valve covers: be gentle, do not over tighten.

If your coolant level in the coolant bottle is not going down then that is a good sign.
A small coolant leak is not the end of the world, but you want to be careful to assure coolant is not going into the engine oil or into the cylinders.
Coolant which ends up in the oil ruins the engine bearings.
Coolant which ends up in the intake and into the engine can eventually ruin the catalytic converters and the O2 sensors - all 4 of them.
I know this as it happened to me and our Discovery I in 2007 or so.
