Default Coolant Red Light

I was replacing my power steering pump on My 2004 D2. Removed upper radiator hose for easier access. Very little fluid came out. Noticed reservoir was empty. Bleeder hose that sits on top of radiator was brittle, broke and I replaced it. Installed new power steering pump and reassembled everything. Noticed red light on temperature gage was on. Never had over heating issues before. Lifted reservoir while cold, added coolant til coolant came out of bleeder screw on top of upper hoses. Light is still on. Any suggestions to get this off? Want to make sure I’m not going to damage anything.

It's on the temp gauge and comes on when your block cracks

Needle was all the way at the bottom, never moved. I let it sit over night and tried today around 2pm. Light was still on it dropped to cold, went to hot and then stopped in the middle and light went off.

The red light on the temp gauge is like the red light of death on an Xbox lol.
