Cooling off clicking noises?
So I flushed out the Dexcool awhile ago and replaced with peak. I have been noticing that after driving and turning the Disco off, it immediately has some pretty hard "clicking"/ "tapping" cooling off noises from the motor...to point I am like, "WTF?!!!"
I had never noticed this until the last week. Used to turn it off and there would be silence...no clicking or tapping.
What do you guys have when the engine cools down. Any noise?
Am I just being paranoid? was going to get the actuall temp at the local shop. The temp gauge is right at 3oclock.
Getting ready to do a road trip, so may see some posts form me coming up...
Clear up some other issues as well.

Get a flashlight so you can look in the grill (passenger side). Might be the fan running after you shut it off. If it is staying on when the car is off, that means the engine temp is running pretty high. Sometimes the electric fan makes an annoying noise.
To expand on what Spike said, its a mixture of the extra fuel burning off in the cats and some thermal dynamics at work. As we say at work, vehicle working as designed. No fault found.
and for the love of sweet baby Jesus, don't rely on your temp gauge.

I have the same sounds on both warm up and cool down. Start your engine from dead cold and let it warm up without going anywhere. I bet you hear them then as well, not just during cool down. I think it's okay, just expansion/contraction.
