What warranty did old Turner give ya on that engine? They sure wanted to blame the fan clutch/fan blade, but after all the stuff you swapped, and it actually got worse it could be engine related....

i was going to say that, but did not want to. It does sound like a cracked block or bad head gasket.

Turner warranties them so if it is they would remedy it.

I haven't been that involved with Turner yet. I reached out to them on Friday, and received a reply this morning. They said there couldn't be a blocked water passage since all engines were checked. I had asked them about a cracked liner, and was told the liners are impossible to crack.

I need to get back to them today, and see where they want to go. The Rover is sitting, and will not be driven until this is fixed. We're leaving for our trip in a couple weeks, and we'll revisit the Rover in 6 months when we come back through the area.

We drove it home yesterday, and temps bit 230 as we pulled into our driveway. The temps yesterday we in the 70's as well, and it still heated up.

Have you done compression or coolant pressure tests? I don't think the liners could crack because they are iron, but could the block have gotten through testing, but is faulty?

I had a good experience with them, and I think if you have the mechanic communicate with them about what they find they will make you whole. They are probably reticent to accept fault if a technician has not confirmed.

Did the shop blow out your A/C Condenser and Radiator with compressed air? I mean, that is a long shot, but maybe they are clogged. I don't know.

It's the block that cracks, the liners can slip but not crack. If you had a cracked block behind a liner you would either have coolant in a combustion chamber or your oil.

Just curious how much money are you into this now?

I'm on the verge of an engine transplant myself and dread the thought of spending thousands and having it still not work.

Best of luck and have a great trip!

I skimmed through this thread again and only spotted one mention of replacing the t stat. Your temps were exactly what I had with a brand new oem grey stat. It was a bum stat. They can be faulty out of the box... maybe try replacing it again? Also point the ir gun at the top and bottom of the stat, note temperature range.
