Cooling System
I really want to get my hands on a spare intake & see how hard it would be to install a standard thermostat on it. That would certainly be ideal.
The lower hose = yes it will be cooler longer, but I’d like to at least see how it would open. I looked online for a bit and saw a lot of inline housings on hot rods placed down there due to their setups.
I’ve been to busy beating rusty things off my 97 XD to mess with a D2 cooling system. I’m honestly happy with my 180F britpart thermostat/HD fan clutch, and dorman 620-112 fan blade, but I’m always up to experimenting on different configs.

The coolant from the rad would be cooled, the thermostat whichever way it would be installed wouldnt get heated coolant to open. The cooled coolant would most likely keep it closed...
If the goal is 195 or less...you'd have to install a really low stat.
I don't think there's anything really wrong with the stat...unless, like many here, use the new stat on initial startup from a head gasket job, get the crud that hasn't settled stuck in the little holes...or they got scared at seeing 210, 220 and shut the car off instead of letting it cycle.
