Just did a distilled water flush with no thermostat.

Temps are 182 with heater full blast 184 without heater, and 193 with A/C on in very humid and hot weather idling for ten minutes.

So that is good news.

New Thermostat is on the way, and I hope the LR Dealership guarantees their parts.

If the new 180 doesn't open, then I will be truly perplexed.

Thanks for everybody's opinions. Invaluable for a shade tree like me to have support.

I went through 2 OEM grey genuine 180 thermostats within a few months. They did not open all the way. The quality control seems to be junk these days. I may switch to the black Britpart 180 and keep my grey OEM as a spare.

It's a real drag buying parts that don't work, especially when you have to wait a week.

Yeah I've always used Grey OEM 180F thermostats until I tried the Britpart 180F unit. After that I've used way more Britpart vs OEM Grey thermostats. I haven't had one faulty one yet.

I have had a few D2's that acted silly at idle after a coolant drain/fill due to a coolant hose, radiator replacement or other cooling related repair. When I had em idle and I never got coolant to flow I took the darn thing for a drive and got the RPM's up pretty good during my quick drive. When I got back the thermostat had finally fully opened and coolant was flowing properly. Let it cool down, topped it off, and called the customer to come get it.

Autozone has a Duralast 180. I’m leaning on giving that a shot.

Chances are it will be a Motorad 180F & I’d open the box & verify the temp before I even bought it!!!! A lot of those Motorad (white/clear) thermostats were actually 195F units.

I’m not a fan of Motorad products myself, but some people swear by em.

Looked at their website photo & if you look really close "Motorad" is clearly visible on the thermostat....

Now just by some off chance it could be made by someone else, so if you have an Auto Zone with one in stock you could ask to see it and verify who it's made by.
