Just wanted to clear that up for you because some of your posts have been on D2 stuff, and yours does not have the same stuff....

Back to the point, yours has a dipstick, and yes, you fill through there. A d2 has a sealed tranny, like a BMW, and you have to fill through a hole in the side while it is running.
I am sorry to hear that the DII has such a design flaw that requires additional work, but I am sure you guys don't mind that minor factor.

I am very well aware I have A DI. I have always stated that in all my posts. I have been very clear with that detail usually including it clearly in the title as well as my name and signature. But I guess some people overlooked that small detail in their rush to reply. But several responders do not seem to note that small detail and provide answers such as SloppyJoe did in this thread "What DIPSTICK TUBE."

I can't help it if most of you have the DII that you are re-engineering to make up for all of it's unique idiosyncracies and you provide info not pertinent to my DI. You don't segregate the two in this forum.

I guess I should exercise more caution in posing a question? Or maybe I should try to make it ABSOLUTELY CLEAR I HAVE A DISCOVERY SERIES I , not a DII. I guess I'll add that to my signature and put it in more predominantly in any future questions that I may pose so I don't distract you gentlemen from your redesign efforts on your Discovery Series II. I know that must take up a lot of your time, trying to get the Diff Locks going and those time-bomb drive shafts replaced before they destroy the vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the useful input, I'll just try to limit my inquiries so as not to be a problem. Have a great Rover Day guys.

Well, I drive a D1, so I hope the above wasn't pointed at me.. I wasn't saying people are re-engineering their trucks, just that Rover already did. The D1 has almost nothing in common with the D2, so if a D2 owner starts a thread, it doesn't apply to your truck in most cases.

I have noticed that you ask questions about yours in the middle of others' threads. This is known as "highjacking". Not really a problem, but when the discussion is on a D2 tranny, and you ask about a D1, it throws some for a loop.

You should research or start a new thread if you have a question about yours. Asking a question about yours in a thread about a D2 will bring some confusion from people. I have seen you ask questions about your driveshaft in a D2 thread before as well. I was just trying to help avoid confusion...No post is a distraction when placed in the right area.

I've noticed that too

Danny - RELAX, I think all he's saying is that when someone has a particular issue with a DII, it's probably not transferable to your DI and you've jumped in trying to fix a problem that doesn't apply to your rig.

DI's and DII's both have their flaws, we're all Disco guys here (insert : hand holding and Kumbaya???) no need to start throwing out insults.

I didn't take offense to anything he said, just to clear that up... I wasn't trying to knock him either. Maybe I should have sent a PM..... hindsight.

No problem guys, I'll avoid any future HighJackings. That was my sons nickname when he played youth baseball, named after D.B.Cooper.

I will be more careful with future questions, and comments. Forgive the old redneck in a rover. You have been a lot of help sincerely. Hope to meet as many as possible out in the wilderness. Best wishes to all, I was not trying to slam anyone.

Just don't flip your rover over.

I am sure your DII is far superior, to what I'm not sure.

Just avoid the mud unless there is a DI behind you to pull you out>>>>>>>>>.
