Default Could it be i'm starting to like this vehicle

when my son first told me he found a land rover in his price range
and it was cool because you don't see many on the road, like jeeps and xterras, my first thoughts were the triumphs' and MGs' my friends and i had as kids and more time was spent turning wrenches than driving, not to mention being a proud jeep owner, this was painfull to hear.
after the front propshaft rebuild yesterday (which i am now the owner of a Blind Bearing Puller Kit) and a major service list that is starting to add up, i actually made him take his mother's car to work today so i could drive it around, making up a lame excuse about insurance and wanting to make sure everthing chaecks out before i turn him loose in it. now i can't wait until he wants to trick it out alittle.
hopefully it will run as good in 6 months as it does right now
taking the alt. to the shop for a rebuild...its squealing like a pig

There are no slip joints to worry about either, the driveshafts are actually bolted to the t-case and the slip joints are on the driveshafts.
They are actually called propshafts on a Rover, but we wont squabble over that.

Well they also call the hood a bonnet, but I cannot make myself do it... all I think about is little house on the prairie and pioneers crossing the plains.

Laura Engels, thats what I think of.
I do think propshafts are a better description of them than driveshafts, although I do call them driveshafts more than not.

Having this forum and the Rave CD have made my DII a pleasure to own. Not to mention how empowering it is to work on your own machine.

Buy some pain killers though.

I love working on my truck, except when I break something while working on it and don't have the right tool to fix it...

I want to like domestic SUVs, I just can't though... Just about all of them at auction have something really wrong with them mechanically. Rovers, ironically don't, and yet everybody bashes them for reliability. They definitely are not good (when compared to a Honda), but compared to other domestic SUVs they are among the best.

My dad only buys US made cars and trucks (even though his GMC was made in Mexico lol). I remember when I brought my rover home, I could see disappointment in his face. I remember him saying it was a waste of time and money to one of my brothers. Three years later, and it just keeps chugging along. While the Blazer they gave my sister (which is 6 years newer than the RR) is falling apart, feels like your going to die on the freeway and has had far more issues than the rover. Even on their 08 escalade and 07 sierra, the door handles are litterally falling off, the engines are starting to tick badly (they maintain their cars by the book), and every other little thing is starting to break. I just do not get why everyone I know is afraid of british cars.
