Default A couple of dumb questions

I am coming from a very basic 97 Pathfinder so I have some dumb questions

Just a few dash light/shift questions:

Are these normal:

1) The Traction Control light - lights up with traction control engages off when it disengages

2) Hill Descent assist, does it always flashes 3 times and bongs with each when it is complete and disengages - IE bottom of the hill this is normal ?

3) Finally is it normal that shifting into low range and the locking the diff is pretty stiff - takes a bit of force ?

Note everything above seems to work fine - the Discovery just has more lights and makes way more sounds than the old Pathfinder.

1 correct. You’ll hear your abs work and the light will turn on and off as it is working.

2. Not sure on that one as far as flashing goes. When I disengage it it only bongs once I think and light turns off.

3. Yes and no, I’ve drive. A few that were a little rougher than others but found that you can engage and disengage it differently to find one that the vehicle likes. My own D2 like to be moving a bit in neutral while I engage the low range. And to remove my cdl smoothly I need to go in reverse a bit then drive forward about a 100 feet and then it will disengage like butter. If I don’t have room I need to work it with a little force, not to extreme though. My buddies needs to move way more before his cdl will disengage. And he can be at a stand still to engage the low but not disengage.

Thanks guys, that makes life a little smoother. I will figure out the best method for the Low/High and Diff lock. Easier to ask before you break something

@mln01 2004 SE7 - 240000 Km and one electrical gremlin I am still chasing I have a bad ground somewhere.

My speedo stops or intermittently works when the climate control is working. It took a while to get to do it often enough that I could ID the cause. Now I just need to check all the grounds and Alternator output and get it sorted out.
