Default Crank position cause misfire type symptom?

So my CPS is going out 7 months after replacing. Yes I got the cheap one and now paying the price. Ordered Bosch this time. When going uphill it feels like it is missing but I have no misfire codes. Could the CPS cause that?

Don't think so. Never had one fail personally, I replaced mine proactively when I got the truck. Most report the engine simply stopping, no restart. Sometimes when they cool down, they will start again and repeat the cycle.

So, you have no codes at all? Sounds more like a malfuctioning MAF sensor to me, but without more info...just guessing...and l hate doing that. Might be a poor tank of fuel, too.

It had a random misfire code when it was running (very poorly) Now I have no start, and no fuel pump. It seems to be the relay module, it's not clicking, and it has constant and switched power. Can you take these modules apart and just replace the relay? I getting frustrated now, and I was hoping to drive it to GA in a month or so.

Any other ideas anyone?

Phil

What is the "relay module"?

The "relay module" as I call it is the little black box behind the vapour canister that contains the fuel pump relay.

Thanks

Looking at your signature you have a '98 Disco 4.0. This is the DII forum ('99-'04).

The fuel pump relay in a DII is in the engine compartment fuse box as pictured below. The fuel pump relay in the pic below (R1) is highlighted by a little square of orange flag tape.
