Crank sensor problem?
Hi Guys!
Driving to work at around 40 mph and the truck "staggered" felt like it quit for a microsecond and then resumed running. It quit for such a short moment of time I believed it had just slipped out of gear....(02 Disco/auto)..could feel/hear the drivetrain lash and clunk. Went home and then to Auto-Zone and on the way it did it once again.
Took it to Auto-Zone and had the codes read as Follows:
P1884/Transmission transfer case disengaged, solenoid short to ground.
P0335/Crankshaft position sensor "A" circuit fault. Probable cause: faulty sensor, short circuit, poor electrical connection.
Only other indication was a check engine light that went off after a couple miles.
So, I'm thinking a Crank Sensor replacement is needed...agreed? I haven't been driving it since it happened.
Only problem I see is that the electrical plug/clip for the thing is in back of the engine and kinda hard to get to.... I'm thinking I can unbolt the sensor, then hook it with a wire and pull it up from above in order to get the connector within reach... would appreciate some pointers if anyone has a better technique....

Thanks guys! I watched the video but it doesn't address disconnecting the sensor from the wire harness which is what seems to be the difficult part since it is so high up there..oh well, it must be possible....Thanks again.
