Default crazy idea for some lift

instead of replacing rear air bags with coils has anybody ever kept the airbags and replaced the front coils with airbags from a RR(or ones that will fit)? Then when you're off-road just pump both f/r up. I kind of like the 'no wheel well showing' look for everyday use but want extra lift so the tires can articulate upwards off-road. Anybody got any thoughts on this? 4 air bags too much trouble to deal with?

Viagra would be easier for a lift.

lol, seriously though if used RR bags could be installed with little or no mods and you could run them from a manual switch it would be a cheap lift ($100 maybe?).

I have no idea, I do think that would be way more trouble than its worth.

I don't see why it's not possible. I'd say the biggest issue will be fitting them on the front axle, as I doubt there are any commercially available parts for that, so you're pretty much stuck to having it custom fabricated ($$$$) or home built.

The P-38 RR and DII are sisters, the P-38 has/had SLS on all fours.
So I guess you could go look at one and see whats what.

It would involve a LOT of fabrication,

A lot of people think the axles are the same, well its not quite as easy as that.

The Disco has coils with the shock down the middle, the Range Rover has the shock located to the side, so its not an "easy" swap to do. If you have the time / money and fabrication skills, yes offocourse it could be done, but is it worth it ?? mmmmm dunno really, lift springs is far cheaper for the front and just retain the SLS on the rear.

Panzer-do the P-38 and the DII use the same axles?
I know the bolt pattern for the rims is the same but I do not know if the axles are the same.
Every P-38 I have seen the diff is on the left side not the right so I dont know if they just turn them upside down or what.

according to the AB website the P38 and DII axle shafts have different item numbers so maybe they are different axles. However, as long as the coil bucket on the DII was in the exact same location as whatever the P38 airbag sits in it might not be a hard swap.

urban, welding shock mounts to the axle and frame are not that big of a fab job. You could cut the mounts from the p38 and weld to the DII. You would just need a grinder and a decent welder (130 amp).
