Default Custom Front Bumper Project

Last weekend I started in on my custom front bumper for a Disco II. I started with a piece of 4' by 8' sheet of 11 ga (1/8") steel. I took some inspiration from the other custom bumper project posted on this site as well as Erik Burrows custom front bumper project. I would encourage anyone who is a big disco enthusiast to check out his website.

After taking some basic measurements of the front of the chassis, I figured it would be easiest to start with four plates, two on each side of the front chassis beams.

If you haven't started cutting yet, consider using 3/16th steel for the support and strength you should have.

Listen to Mike on the gauge of steel. 1/8" is fine for just looks but if you want it to function then at least use 3/16". I am a bitof an over builder so maybe even for your attachments you could use 1/4" and then build more structure with the 3/16", if you have just some fill in areas then 1/8" is fine, but not really for the whole thing.

Figure out the pictures so we can see what you are building.
