Cylinder 1 and 6 misfiring.. Help
I have a '04 Disco II with a '02 Range Rover P38 rebuilt engine in it.. But either way the spark plug wires run behind the engine so I assume it's not a distributor, but how do I trace down or fix a spark plug wire issue??
And now I don't see how it could be a Distributor (which is non existent) or a wire issue.. I believe this may all fall back on the the 02 sensors.. So I will just replace the other 3 and hope that resolves the issue..
you have a misfire on #1 so your going to replace the o2 sensors?

1 and 6 are on the same coil (drivers side top back center of engine). Feel and look behind there and see if the top two wires on that coil feel like they are on good. Push in hard on them toward the coil and see if they will go in any tighter. It's tight but you can get your fingers in there enough to feel if the wires are tight on the coils. Don't accidentally pull them off, you may never get them back on.
also check the connector from the main harness that plugs into that side of the coil (drivers side). shake it a little to see that it's plugged in good and that the metal clip is still on it.
and open the hood in pitch black dark with the engine running and look for fireworks anywhere.. to see if the wires may be sending the spark somewhere else before it makes it to the plug.
also check plug wires on 1 and 6 at the plugs and see if snapped on tight.
these are just some things you can check that are easy.
I added a wiring diagram so you will know where 1 and 6 are on the plugs and coils.
