Cylinder 4 & 6 Misfire 2003 Discovery
If that occurred wouldn't i get more issues? i really don't want to go the route of a head gasket. I don't have any smoke out the tailpipe and i have no loss in pressure when pressure testing at the reservoir. how can i check for this?
i'd also like to point out that the previous Owner used regular grade gasoline and the oil i changed was very thin. this could be due to the age of the oil, but my guess is that he used the cheapest oil he could find.
Alright... i decided to do the head job myself! I've ordered all the parts and pieces including new valves and springs. it took about 6 total hours to remove the heads (Using the RAVE). I sent them out to be resurfaced and cleaned, now i'm just waiting to reassemble. in the mean time i'll clean the engine while i've got it apart.
I did indeed have a blown head gasket between cylinders 4 & 6. It looked like i was about to have a blowout between 5 & 7 as well. i had what looked to be four failing exhaust valves and quite a bit of carbon build up in the engine. So definitely glad i'm doing this now than later.
I'll let everyone know the outcome when i reassemble the engine.
