D1 & D2 vs LR3 & LR4

personally the DII is the one for me, no contest. If I wanted pure value I'd drive a camry but since I'm not doing that for once in my life I picked the LR that spoke to me. The LR3/4 models are hopefully built better but let's see where they are in 10-15 years. Plus they are ugly(my opinion only, no offense to any of you who like them). A top to bottom coat of bedliner won't help, either...

If you have not driven an LR4, do yourself a huge favor and go do a day at the Land Rover experience closest to you. They are thee most insanely capable vehicle I've ever driven. They make my modded DII look like a joke off road, and it only had street tires on it. LR4 will kill any DII offroad(short of clearance).

I had a chance to drive an LR3 on forest service roads several times... It made washboard dirt track seem like the city streets in Seattle... Effortlessly gliding over every bump. We had one at work for a mountain top site service vehicle and had it all tricked out with roof rack/winch/snorkel/bull bar with lights, etc. I believe it met or exceeded everything a Disco can do with a bit more room and of course comfort.
Especially cool was the ability to drop the airbag suspension down low enough to get into a parking garage with the roof rack in place. Or conversely you could raise it up to get a little extra heighth when needed, as long as you were going under 25mph.
